Robert Ahrens is a Tony-award winning producer with over 20 years of Broadway experience. His credits include lead producing Just in Time (6 Tony nominations) the smash hit Broadway Musical, directed by Tony Award winner Alex Timbers, originally starring Jonathan Groff and now led by Jeremy Jordan as Bobby Darin. Robert also lead produced the Broadway revival of Chess (5 Tony nominations), directed by Tony Award winner Michael Mayer and starring Aaron Tveit, Lea Michele, and Tony Award nominee Nicholas Christopher alongside Tony nominees Bryce Pinkam and Hannah Cruz. In addition, Robert lead produced Call Me Izzy, a gripping new play by Jamie Wax, directed by Sarna Lapine and featuring six-time Emmy Award winner Jean Smart in a highly acclaimed theatrical performance.
Robert also lead produces the critically acclaimed off-Broadway hit revival of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken's Little Shop of Horrors at the Westside Theatre in New York City, directed by Michael Mayer and choreographed by Ellenore Scott. The long running production has earned widespread acclaim and numerous honors, including Best Musical Revival Awards from the Drama Desk, the Drama League, and the Outer Critics Circle.
Robert’s first lead producing credit was Xanadu, the Broadway musical adapted from the 1980 film, which earned four Tony Award nominations including Best Musical, as well as the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Musical and the Drama Desk Award for Best Book of a Musical. He also developed and produced Disaster! by Seth Rudetsky and Jack Plotnick, which debuted on Broadway at the Nederlander Theatre. He produced concert events on Broadway featuring artists including Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, The Temptations and The Four Tops, Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine, and Kathy Griffin in Kathy Griffin Wants a Tony. Robert was also a lead producer of Levi Holloway's Grey House, directed by Joe Mantello and starring Laurie Metcalf, Tatiana Maslany, and Paul Sparks.
Robert taught for seven years at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts in the M.F.A. Theatre Program. He also co-leads Live Wire Theatrical with Chris Aniello, a New York-based general management office committed to developing and managing high-quality theatrical productions.
